The minimum income requirements for family sponsorship under the 2009 Poverty Guidelines issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for the 48 contiguous states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam are:

The above income amounts are the income needed on the I-864 Affidavit of Support to sponsor a family member for immigration to the United States. If the main petitioner does not earn enough income, then a Joint Sponsor may be used.
